I was a CPA for the majority of my work life, but ended up working part-time for 3 years as a Reader’s Advisory Librarian when I decided to go back to school to get a Master’s degree in School Counseling. While there, I realized how much I enjoyed working at the library. I enjoyed being surrounded by books and liked the challenge of helping patrons find a book or new author that they would enjoy. So when I quit my job years ago, I was thrilled to be able to return to my library where I now work in the Audiovisual Department.
I have listened to a lot of books and especially enjoy the added dimension that a good reader adds to the telling of the story. I’m a member of 3 book groups and also participate in our library’s genre study each month, so I stay pretty busy reading and usually have at least 3 books going at a time – one in the car, one on my Kindle and another on my iPod for exercise time or working around the house. Although I do read a wide variety of books, I especially like historical fiction, literary fiction, multi-cultural fiction, women’s fiction, mysteries and psychological thrillers.
When I’m not working or reading, I also enjoy spending time with my husband or my grown children, knitting, riding my bike and doing events with my dog who is now trained to be a therapy dog. He’s a wonderful Pit Bull mix that I adopted from the local animal shelter 2 years ago. Because of him I am now also a big advocate for Pit Bulls and adopting from a shelter or rescue group.
